South Staffs Water (SSW) has announced that the fishery will close at the end of October 2026. The current members and team have submitted a bid to take over the club and continue to operate after SSWs withdrawal and enable Blithfield Anglers to continue into 2027 and beyond.

About the event
We are holding this event to enable potential club founder members and anyone interested in the future of fly fishing at Blithfield to find out more. If you are interested in what the funding opportunities are going to be like before we announce them, or if you simply want to know more about the fishing opportunities will likely be this is the event for you. You can ask questions, tell us what you would like the club to offer (or not) and leave your suggestions with us to be considered as we pull the structure of the club together.
Why now?
Because SSW gave us no notice of the closure; it has taken 5 months to get to this point; SSW will not even tell us if our proposals are of interest for another 2 weeks at least; and then we have to negotiate with them and pull everything together…
